EAST KENT HOT SPOTS MINIS BAY -- TO -- SANDWICH
As you travel around the coast from Reculver into Thanet the first place you come to is Minis Bay this area starts to come alive at the end of March when Skate start to show with Bass and Smoothound following soon after. You can fish here all through the tide but the best time is 2 hours before the low back to the high. All the baits work here but Crab for the Bass is unbeatable, Sandeels for the Skate and Ragworm is a good bet for all species.

Margate Pier. There is limited space on the pier but the fishing can be quite good Skate and Smoothounds are caught here on a regular basis. In 2008 there were more Mackerel here than in Dover.

The pipes at Palm Bay. This is a area known for spinning and other lure fishing at low tide, not a place for the faint harted but the fishing can be spectacular go with someone who knows the area and the tides.

Joss Bay. Nice area to fish, the ground infront of the car park on the cliff is quite clear. It is good for Bass and Eels, around the rocks to the left and right you should be able to find yourself a few Peeler Crabs at the right time of year.

Dumpton Gap great Bass and Cod mark best fished at low tide this area does get busy in the summer so night tides and midweeks should be best bait. For the summer should be Crab and Ragworm. In the winter use Lugworn and Squid for the Cod.

At the end of the prom under the King George VI Park Ramsgate there is a walkway down to the beach. Directly off the way down is a mark known as the Coburn a flint bar that runs East South-East out to sea, this is a popular mark with the locals. The fishing area is not very large and you need to fish low tide casting out to the right as this area is clearer than the left and if you get it right, what a cod mark!

Marine Esplanade Ramsgate good mixed fishing all year. Try fishing low tide from the end of September a long cast (100m+) with Lug and Squid or a large Crab, bait a whole Velvet or half a Punger; the new Cod coming in can't resist them.

Ramsgate harbour. When you fish here try to fish beyond the bend as this is the best part of the pier good for Flat Fish. There has also been some very big Bass caught here late in the season.
If you fish inside the harbour some very good sport can be had using freshwater tackle for the Mullet go early morning use bread.

Sandwich Bay. Good venue all year round Cod, Bass, Dogfish, Smoothounds, Skate, Dabs, Whiting and Pout can all be caught here. You can fish at all states of the tide and will often fish better from the low tide to high.
